Based on the small Falkland island, Saltire Rare Malt distillery has much to celebrate with just one year under its belt. The Scotch whiskey producer has rolled a new spirit to usher in its second year.
In 2024, two friends, Nigel Heywood and Keith Rennie, locked heads together and founded the distillery focusing on rare whiskies. The partners chose Fife because they believe it is the ‘birthplace of Scotch whisky. This is where the first Scotch rolled onto the market in 1494.
Rennie said: “Saltire Rare Malt was born out of friendship, vision, and a passion for the very best single malt Scotch whisky. To see our company be so well-received across the globe really is a dream come true.”
Saltire Rare Malt Rolls Out New Collection
“Being successful is all about the team you build around you. The sheer quality, knowledge, and experience we have across our team at Saltire make the future very exciting. We are honored to have Hans and Becky curating the Saltire Rare Malt Collection. Their incredible whisky know-how and the trust we have in them is a beautiful thing.”
Just as Rennie expressed, the distillery is celebrating with a new collection dubbed Saltire Rare Collection. It is available in North America, the UK, Japan, Latin America, and the Netherlands.
The company is also expanding its staff. Paul Bryant will join the distillery as US brand ambassador, and Jan Damen will fill the role of European sales director.
Rennie commented: “Bringing our new hires Jan and Paul into the Saltire family again demonstrates that anything is possible with the best team around you. We’re raising a glass to 2025, and we can’t wait to announce what’s next.”
For now, the brand focuses on single malts selected from well-known labels, rare gems, and casks from lost distilleries. It will release them on a timely basis.’
