Among Mekhong’s many initiatives to promote and honor Thai mixologists is the Mekhong The Spirit Competition 2024. Featuring the most skilled Thai drink artists and their cocktails, it has been going strong for seven consecutive years. The contest now reaches a global audience.
This year’s competition, dubbed “One & Only Thai Spice Rum,” asks mixologists to create new drinks using Thai ingredients. This will highlight Thailand’s tradition of producing high-quality spiced rum.
One of the prizes will feature the winning cocktail at the prestigious 2025 Michelin Guide Ceremony next January.
In addition, the competition features hundreds of talented mixologists from Thailand and other countries. Only eight of the sixteen competitors who reached the semifinals will advance to the eagerly anticipated final round. The event has been elevated to a new level with the participation of notable judges from the local and national business sectors.

Proudly representing Thailand as an icon, Mekhong raises awareness of the country’s soft power and showcases the world-class mixologists from Thailand. Thai molasses, glutinous rice, and an undisclosed combination of herbs and spices are the traditional ingredients in Mekhong, the country’s national spirit.
