The Tamdhu Distillery has launched the Dedication Collection, beginning with Tamdhu 43 Years Old, a whisky with a 43-year-old age statement. Eight releases are planned for the Dedication Collection, four for domestic markets and four for travel retail. The 43 Years Old will be released for domestic markets.
To showcase Tamdhu’s signature use of oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks, Tamdhu 43 Years Old has been matured in three sherry oak casks.
Distillery Manager, Sandy McIntyre, said: “At Tamdhu, our whisky is the ultimate artistic expression. So to launch this landmark collection we didn’t want to get side-tracked by gimmicks. Or look away from our whisky. Because it’s there, in the spirit itself, you see our craft, passion, and dedication.”

Interestingly, Tamdhu collaborated with Peter Woitschikowski to produce up-close photos using a microscope attached to a camera. The whisky was crystallized with natural extracts and then photographed at 43 times magnification, one per year of maturation.
Woitschikowski said: “You never know how the images will come out. And every picture is different and unique. Tamdhu was a special case because the whisky is so pure. So perfect. We had to add extracts to create the crystallization required. The results are quite beautiful, I believe.”
In addition to Tamdhu 43 Years Old, McIntyre invites you to taste Tamdhu’s whiskies and visit its warehouses with every purchase of Tamdhu 43 Years Old.
Only 100 bottles of Tamdhu 43 Years Old have been released worldwide. This single malt is described as having notes of toffee, dried coriander, citrus, blackcurrant, spices, and a long sherry oak finish.
While the spirit notes given in the press release are noteworthy, the General Wine Company has offered a more in-depth denotation.
The whisky boasts a luxurious, silky mouthfeel, coating the palate with a delightful richness. As you savour each mouthful, a cascade of flavours unfolds:Sherried Sweetness. The influence of the Oloroso casks shines through on the palate, delivering notes of raisin, prune, and a touch of toffee.
